Fluconazole belongs to a class of drugs known as azole antifungals. It is used to treat and prevent certain fungal infections, particularly ones caused by Candida species. This drug can be used to prevent candidiasis in patients with weak immune systems caused by cancer treatment, bone marrow transplant, or diseases such as AIDS.
